Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain

One of my favorite books is Betty Edwards's Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain, a wonderful way to loosen up as an artist.

Here is a sampling of my latest work with the book...

Patty Hearst from her SLA days...

I attended a Doctor Sketchy's session a LONG time ago (back in August) which coincided with San Diego's Comic-Con.

Great models were impersonating celebrities, and I set out to capture them in a more of a caricature-style than I normally do.

It has been awhile since I've posted, so enjoy.

Trying to be Merry

As a former East Coaster (New Jersey and just before moving to San Diego, New York City dweller) my only complaint about living in beautiful San Diego is the difficulty I have getting into the holiday spirit.

Like my grandmother before me, Christmas is my favorite holiday and I usually do it up right with lights, a tree (sometimes two!) and an incredible desire to reach out to friends, family and those in need.

This year, however, the holidays really snuck up on me.

Be warned: I am going to start embracing the holiday season starting RIGHT NOW!

Stuck

We've all been there, am I right? Stuck in a rut - perpetuating bad habits or perhaps being in a relationship - whether friend or lover, that just isn't good for you.

I have drawn myself right out of that rut and am moving on and forward. I am now open to good things entering my life as I make room for them by eliminating something that was completely unhealthy for me and my happiness, despite the thrill it gave me at first.

May you fend off your ruts today too. ;)
